Latar Belakang: Diabetes melitus tipe 2 (T2DM) telah menjadi masalah kesehatan global baik di negara maju maupun negara berkembang. Di Indonesia, prevalensi nasional diabetes meningkat dari 6,9% di tahun 2013 menjadi 8,5% di tahun 2018. Berbagai macam upaya telah dikembangkan guna mengurangi risiko diabetes, diantaranya adalah identifikasi fungsi isoflavone yang berasal dari tumbuh-tumbuhan serta asam lemak tak jenuh Omega 3 seperti eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) dan docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) yang berasal dari makanan berbasis kelautan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian Omega 3 komersial (EPA+DHA) terhadap kadar gula darah postprandial penderita DM tipe 2 di Kota Kendari.


Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pra eksperimen dengan rancangan one group test pretest-posttest design terhadap 20 penderita DM tipe 2 yang dilaksanakan sejak Agustus sampai Oktober 2021.


Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sehingga secara statistik tidak ada perbedaan kadar gula darah postprandial sebelum dan sesudah suplementasi Omega 3 pada pasien diabetes mellitus tipe 2 di Kota Kendari (p value=0.101).
