Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage Policy

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage Policy

Media Publikasi Promosi Kesehatan Indonesia (MPPKI) recognizes the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in academic writing and editing. The journal permits the responsible and transparent use of AI-assisted tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Grammarly, DeepL, QuillBot) strictly as supportive instruments, while maintaining full human authorship, accountability, and academic integrity.

Permitted Uses of AI Tools

Authors may use AI-assisted tools exclusively for the following limited purposes:

  • Language editing, grammar correction, and stylistic refinement
  • Improving clarity, coherence, and readability of text without altering scientific meaning
  • Assisting with outlining or organizing manuscript structure at an early drafting stage

Prohibited Uses of AI Tools

The use of AI tools is strictly prohibited for the following purposes:

  • Generating substantial portions of the manuscript, including abstracts, results, discussions, or conclusions
  • Producing or manipulating research data, images, tables, figures, or statistical analyses
  • Generating references, citations, or bibliographic content
  • Submitting AI-generated content without critical human review and responsibility
  • Listing AI tools as authors or co-authors

Any violation of these provisions may result in manuscript rejection, retraction after publication, and further editorial or ethical investigation in accordance with COPE guidelines.

Disclosure and Transparency

Authors must explicitly disclose any use of AI-assisted tools in a dedicated Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies in the Writing Process section. The disclosure must specify the name of the tool used and the nature of its assistance (e.g., language editing or structural refinement only).

Author Responsibilities

  • Authors retain full responsibility for the originality, accuracy, and integrity of the manuscript
  • All scientific interpretations, analyses, conclusions, and ethical statements must be human-generated
  • Authors are accountable for any errors, misconduct, or ethical breaches, regardless of AI assistance
  • Authors must respond transparently to editorial or reviewer inquiries regarding AI usage

Policy Review and Updates

This AI Usage Policy will be periodically reviewed and updated to align with developments in AI technology and evolving international standards in scholarly publishing.

MPPKI supports the responsible use of AI technologies that enhance manuscript clarity while preserving human authorship, ethical research conduct, and trust in scientific communication.
