Withdrawal Manuscript

International Journal of Health, Economics, and Social Science (IJHESS) provides a manuscript withdrawal policy to maintain ethical publication practices and ensure the integrity of the scholarly publication process.

Authors are strongly encouraged to carefully prepare and review manuscripts before submission. Withdrawal requests should only be made for valid and reasonable grounds.

Withdrawal Before Peer Review

Authors may request withdrawal of a manuscript before the peer-review process begins by submitting a formal written request to the editorial office. The request must clearly state the reason for withdrawal and be approved by all co-authors.

At this stage, the editorial office may process the withdrawal without penalty.

Withdrawal During Peer Review

Manuscripts that are already under peer review cannot be withdrawn without a valid academic or ethical reason. Authors requesting withdrawal during the review process must submit:

  • A formal withdrawal letter

  • Clear explanation of the reason for withdrawal

  • Approval from all co-authors

The editorial board reserves the right to evaluate and approve or reject the withdrawal request depending on the stage of the editorial process.

Withdrawal After Acceptance

Withdrawal requests after manuscript acceptance are strongly discouraged because significant editorial and review resources have already been invested.

Withdrawal after acceptance may only be permitted under exceptional circumstances, including:

  • Major errors discovered in the manuscript

  • Ethical concerns

  • Duplicate submission identified by the authors

  • Legal or institutional issues affecting publication

The editorial board will assess each case individually before making a final decision.

Unethical Withdrawal

The following actions are considered unethical:

  • Withdrawing a manuscript without clear justification after extensive peer review

  • Submitting the same manuscript simultaneously to multiple journals

  • Failing to respond to editorial communication without notification

  • Requesting withdrawal after publication for non-ethical reasons

In cases of unethical withdrawal, the journal may take appropriate actions, including temporary submission restrictions or notification to affiliated institutions if necessary.

Withdrawal of Published Articles

If serious ethical violations, plagiarism, fabricated data, or major errors are identified after publication, the journal may retract or remove the article in accordance with publication ethics and editorial policies.

Retraction notices will be published to maintain the transparency and integrity of the academic record.

The publisher, Universitas Muhammadiyah Palu, and the editorial board of IJHESS are committed to ensuring ethical manuscript management and responsible scholarly publishing practices.
