Publication Ethics

International Journal of Health, Economics, and Social Science (IJHESS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and preventing publication malpractice. All parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers, are expected to uphold ethical behavior and academic integrity. IJHESS follows ethical publishing principles adapted from the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).


Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to IJHESS must ensure that:

  • The manuscript is original and has not been published previously or submitted simultaneously to another journal.

  • All data, findings, and discussions presented in the manuscript are accurate, valid, and free from fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate data manipulation.

  • Proper acknowledgment and citation of sources are provided for all referenced works.

  • Plagiarism in any form is strictly prohibited.

  • Authorship is limited only to individuals who have made significant contributions to the research and manuscript preparation.

  • All co-authors approve the final version of the manuscript before submission.

  • Any potential conflicts of interest, financial support, or research funding sources are clearly disclosed.

  • Research involving human participants, animals, or sensitive data complies with applicable ethical standards and institutional regulations.


Ethical Responsibilities of Editors

Editors of IJHESS are responsible for:

  • Evaluating manuscripts solely based on academic merit, originality, clarity, relevance, and scientific contribution.

  • Maintaining confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and author information.

  • Ensuring a fair, unbiased, and transparent peer-review process.

  • Avoiding conflicts of interest in editorial decision-making.

  • Taking appropriate action when ethical concerns, misconduct, or publication malpractice are identified.

  • Making publication decisions based on reviewer recommendations and journal standards.


Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Conduct reviews objectively, professionally, and constructively.

  • Maintain confidentiality of manuscripts under review.

  • Provide clear and evidence-based comments to assist authors in improving manuscript quality.

  • Identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors.

  • Inform editors of any suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, or ethical misconduct.

  • Decline review assignments when conflicts of interest exist.


Ethical Responsibilities of the Publisher

The publisher of IJHESS, Universitas Muhammadiyah Palu, is committed to supporting ethical publishing practices by:

  • Ensuring editorial independence and academic integrity.

  • Preventing commercial interests from influencing editorial decisions.

  • Supporting the editorial team in handling ethical issues and publication misconduct.

  • Preserving the accessibility and integrity of published academic records.


Plagiarism Policy

All manuscripts submitted to IJHESS are screened using plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts containing plagiarism, duplicate publication, or unethical citation practices will be rejected immediately. The journal applies a strict policy against academic misconduct.


Retraction and Correction Policy

IJHESS may publish corrections, clarifications, retractions, or apologies when necessary to maintain the integrity of the academic record. Articles may be retracted in cases involving:

  • Proven plagiarism

  • Fraudulent or fabricated data

  • Duplicate publication

  • Serious ethical violations

  • Major errors affecting research validity


Conflict of Interest

Authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence the publication process or interpretation of research findings.


Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright of their published work while granting IJHESS the right to publish and distribute the article. Published articles may be made available under an open-access policy to support wider dissemination of scientific knowledge.
