Correction and Retraction Policy
The International Journal of Health, Economics, and Social Science (IJHESS) is committed to preserving the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the scholarly record. In accordance with internationally recognized publishing standards and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines, the journal will issue corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, or article removals whenever necessary to ensure transparency and maintain public confidence in published research.
Editorial actions are undertaken objectively, fairly, and transparently following careful investigation by the Editorial Board and, where appropriate, consultation with the publisher and relevant institutions.
1. Correction Policy
A correction (Erratum or Corrigendum) will be published when errors are identified that do not invalidate the scientific findings but require clarification or amendment for readers.
Corrections may include:
- Errors in author names, affiliations, or correspondence details.
- Typographical errors affecting interpretation.
- Incorrect tables, figures, captions, or references.
- Minor inaccuracies in data presentation.
- Formatting or production errors introduced during publication.
Correction notices will be permanently linked to the original article, and the publication history will remain fully transparent.
2. Retraction Policy
Retraction is considered when the reliability or integrity of a published article has been seriously compromised. Retraction decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief in consultation with the Editorial Board and, where necessary, the publisher or relevant institutions.
Grounds for retraction include:
- Plagiarism or substantial text overlap.
- Duplicate or redundant publication.
- Fabricated or falsified data.
- Major methodological or analytical errors.
- Research misconduct or unethical research practices.
- Copyright infringement.
- Manipulation of the peer-review or editorial process.
A formal retraction notice will remain permanently available, clearly identifying the affected article and explaining the reasons for retraction. The original article may remain online for scholarly record purposes but will be clearly marked as "Retracted".
3. Expression of Concern
Where credible concerns exist regarding the integrity or validity of a published article but conclusive evidence is not yet available, IJHESS may publish an Expression of Concern. This notice informs readers that an investigation is ongoing while preserving fairness to all parties involved.
4. Article Removal
Removal of a published article is undertaken only in exceptional circumstances where maintaining public access would be unlawful or could cause serious harm.
Examples include:
- Legal requirements or court orders.
- Defamation or privacy violations.
- Significant risks to public health or safety.
- Serious copyright or licensing infringements.
Where removal is necessary, bibliographic information and a notice explaining the reason for removal will remain publicly accessible whenever legally permissible.
5. Editorial Responsibilities
The Editorial Board is responsible for ensuring that all editorial actions are conducted fairly, independently, and transparently. Responsibilities include:
- Investigating ethical concerns objectively.
- Communicating with authors, reviewers, institutions, and relevant stakeholders.
- Applying COPE recommendations and international publication ethics standards.
- Maintaining transparency throughout all editorial decisions.
- Safeguarding the integrity of the scholarly record.

The publisher, Universitas Muhammadiyah Palu, together with the Editorial Board of International Journal of Health, Economics, and Social Science (IJHESS), is committed to protecting the integrity of scholarly communication by implementing transparent correction and retraction procedures consistent with internationally recognized publishing standards and the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
