Plagiarism Policy

Journal of Foreign Language and Educational Research

The Journal of Foreign Language and Educational Research is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. All manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original works and free from plagiarism.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text, ideas, images, data, or results from other sources without proper citation
  • Presenting another person’s work as one’s own
  • Submitting previously published work without appropriate acknowledgment
  • Self-plagiarism or duplicate publication
  • Improper paraphrasing without attribution

Any form of plagiarism is considered unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

Plagiarism Screening

All submitted manuscripts will undergo plagiarism screening using plagiarism detection software before entering the peer review process.

The editorial team evaluates the similarity index to determine whether the manuscript meets the journal’s originality requirements.

Similarity Index Policy

The journal generally requires manuscripts to have a similarity index below the acceptable threshold determined by the editorial board. Manuscripts with excessive similarity may be:

  • Returned to authors for revision
  • Rejected before peer review
  • Rejected after editorial evaluation

The editorial decision depends not only on the percentage of similarity but also on the nature and source of the overlapping content.

Authors’ Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for:

  • Ensuring the originality of their manuscripts
  • Properly citing all sources and references
  • Using quotation marks when directly quoting other works
  • Avoiding duplicate submission to other journals
  • Providing accurate authorship information

Editorial Actions

If plagiarism is identified before publication, the manuscript may be rejected immediately.

If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the journal reserves the right to:

  • Retract the published article
  • Publish corrections or notices of plagiarism
  • Inform authors’ institutions when necessary
  • Restrict future submissions from the authors involved

Ethical Commitment

The Journal of Foreign Language and Educational Research supports ethical research and publication practices and follows internationally recognized publication ethics standards to ensure the quality and credibility of published articles.
