    Welcome to the Journal of Foreign Language and Educational Research Volume 8, Issue 1, 2025. This edition proudly presents a series of rich and diverse articles exploring various important aspects of language teaching and learning. Readers will find in-depth analyses of the impact of social media, particularly Instagram, on vocabulary development among upper secondary students, as well as senior students' perspectives on the use of English in instruction. This edition also offers a comprehensive review of strategies employed by secondary English teachers in applying a scientific approach to teaching, alongside a study on the implementation of storytelling to enhance students' speaking skills. Furthermore, there is an evaluation of the writing performance of eleventh-grade high school students and an exploration of the experiences of English education students in utilizing learning management systems. We hope that the articles in this edition will provide valuable insights and encourage further discussion among academics and practitioners.

    It is with great gratitude that we present the July 2024 issue of this journal, featuring six selected research articles in the field of English Language Teaching (ELT).
    This issue specifically highlights the dynamics of English language learning in Indonesia, ranging from the use of technology and strategies for improving speaking skills to an in-depth analysis of the linguistic barriers faced by learners. The issue opens with a study on phonetic aspects in the use of digital dictionary applications by Wulandari et al., followed by a series of innovative learning methods to improve speaking skills. Selviani et al. explore the effectiveness of the Cooperative Script, while Yumelda et al. focus on the Problem-Based Learning approach. Complementing these perspectives, Dewi et al. provide an overview of the impact of the English Club extracurricular activity on students’ confidence in communication. In line with the increasing digitalization of education, Baharuddin et al. contribute insights on the role of web-based media in stimulating students’ interest in learning. As a crucial conclusion, the article by Cahyadi et al. conducts an in-depth analysis of grammatical obstacles in the construction of passive sentences among university-level students. We hope the collection of articles in this issue will provide new insights for education practitioners, lecturers, and researchers to continue innovating in creating a more effective and adaptive English language learning environment.

    JOFLER is a scientific journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research in the field of foreign language and educational research more broadly. The journal presents academic contributions relevant to various aspects of foreign language teaching, learning, and curriculum development, as well as other contemporary educational issues. In this edition, JOFLER features a variety of interesting studies. An article examines how teaching punctuation through descriptive texts can be applied to eighth-grade students. There is also research exploring the effectiveness of word colouring techniques in improving English vocabulary acquisition. The journal also presents a study on the application of contextual teaching and learning in improving vocabulary acquisition, as well as an analysis of the influence of grammatical competence on students' speaking skills. Furthermore, readers can find an overview of the strategies used by teachers to improve students' reading comprehension at the junior high school level. Equally important, an article investigates the correlation between vocabulary mastery and listening skills in vocational high school students. JOFLER serves as an important platform for researchers, academics, and practitioners to share research findings, innovative ideas, and critical analyses that contribute to the advancement of theory and practice in foreign language education and the field of education in general.

There are also experimental research articles on improving vocabulary mastery and Running Dictation implementation.

    This volume contains mostly descriptive qualitative research due to the situation of Covid-19 Pandemic that currently becomes the world issues. The research results presented in this issue are related to strategies in teaching speaking for Junior and Senior High School students, students's strategies in Speaking English, a study about students' anxiety in Speaking, and an analysis of Students' ability in Writing. There is also a correlational study examining the relationship between Metacognitive Knowledge and Reading Comprehension ability.
