Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

Journal of Foreign Language and Educational Research

The Journal of Foreign Language and Educational Research recognizes the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in academic writing, research, and publishing processes. The journal is committed to maintaining academic integrity, transparency, and ethical standards regarding the use of AI tools.

Use of AI Tools by Authors

Authors may use AI-assisted tools for purposes such as:

  • Language improvement and grammar checking
  • Formatting assistance
  • Data organization and analysis support
  • Translation assistance

However, authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, validity, and integrity of all content submitted to the journal.

AI tools must not replace critical scientific thinking, interpretation, or scholarly responsibility.

Disclosure Requirement

Authors are required to disclose the use of AI tools in the preparation of their manuscripts when such tools significantly contribute to content generation, analysis, or writing.

The disclosure should be included in the acknowledgment section or another appropriate section of the manuscript.

Authorship Policy

Artificial Intelligence tools or software cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of manuscripts because they cannot:

  • Take responsibility for the content
  • Approve the final manuscript
  • Fulfill authorship criteria
  • Be accountable for ethical or legal issues

Only human contributors who meet authorship standards may be listed as authors.

Prohibited Uses of AI

The journal does not permit the use of AI tools for:

  • Fabricating or manipulating data
  • Generating fake citations or references
  • Producing misleading or unethical content
  • Violating research ethics or academic integrity
  • Peer review manipulation

Any misuse of AI technologies may result in manuscript rejection or retraction.

Use of AI by Reviewers and Editors

Reviewers and editors must maintain confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and should not upload unpublished manuscripts into AI systems that may compromise data privacy or intellectual property.

Editorial decisions must remain based on human academic judgment and ethical editorial standards.

Ethical and Academic Responsibility

Authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to use AI technologies responsibly, transparently, and ethically to support academic quality and integrity.

The Journal of Foreign Language and Educational Research reserves the right to update this policy in accordance with developments in AI technology and scholarly publishing standards.
