PUBLICATION ETHICS
 
MALEO Law Journal (MLJ) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and preventing all forms of publication malpractice. The journal follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices and applies internationally recognized ethical principles to ensure integrity, transparency, fairness, and accountability throughout the editorial and publishing process.

Publication ethics are fundamental to maintaining the quality and credibility of scientific publications. Editors, reviewers, authors, and the publisher are expected to uphold ethical responsibilities throughout the submission, review, editorial, and publication processes.

Responsibilities of Authors
  • Submit original manuscripts that have not been published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere.
  • Present research honestly, accurately, and transparently.
  • Properly acknowledge the work of others through appropriate citations and references.
  • Avoid plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, and image manipulation.
  • Disclose any financial support or potential conflicts of interest.
  • Cooperate in the peer-review process and submit revisions promptly.
  • Notify the Editor immediately if a significant error is discovered after publication.
Responsibilities of Editors
  • Evaluate manuscripts solely on academic merit without discrimination.
  • Maintain confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and reviewer identities.
  • Ensure a fair, unbiased, and timely peer-review process.
  • Prevent conflicts of interest in editorial decision-making.
  • Take appropriate action when ethical concerns or misconduct are identified.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
  • Provide objective, constructive, and evidence-based reviews.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all manuscripts under review.
  • Identify relevant published works that have not been cited.
  • Declare any conflicts of interest and decline reviews when appropriate.
  • Complete reviews within the agreed review period.
Responsibilities of the Publisher
  • Support editorial independence and academic freedom.
  • Safeguard the integrity of the scholarly record.
  • Promote ethical publishing practices and transparency.
  • Correct, retract, or withdraw publications when necessary in accordance with COPE recommendations.
Publication Misconduct

MALEO Law Journal does not tolerate plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, data falsification, citation manipulation, authorship manipulation, unethical research practices, or any other form of publication misconduct. Allegations of misconduct will be investigated thoroughly following the COPE guidelines, and appropriate editorial actions—including manuscript rejection, correction, retraction, or notification of relevant institutions—may be taken where necessary.

Ethical Commitment

By submitting a manuscript to MALEO Law Journal, all authors agree to comply with these Publication Ethics and acknowledge that failure to meet these ethical standards may result in editorial sanctions in accordance with internationally accepted publishing practices and the COPE Core Practices.
