CORRECTION & RETRACTION POLICY
MALEO Law Journal (MLJ) is committed to maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of the scholarly record. When significant errors or ethical concerns are identified in published articles, the journal will take appropriate editorial actions in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices and internationally recognized publishing standards.
Editorial actions may include the publication of corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, or other notices when necessary to preserve the accuracy of the scientific record while ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the publication process.
Correction Policy
A correction (Erratum or Corrigendum) may be issued when a published article contains errors that do not invalidate the overall findings but may affect the interpretation, accuracy, or clarity of the publication. Examples include typographical errors, author information, affiliations, references, figures, tables, or minor factual inaccuracies.
Retraction Policy
A published article may be retracted if clear evidence demonstrates that the findings are unreliable due to research misconduct or honest error, including but not limited to plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, data falsification, unethical research practices, copyright infringement, or other serious violations of publication ethics.
Editorial Actions

| Expression of Concern | Published when serious concerns are under investigation but conclusive evidence has not yet been established. |
| Retraction | Issued when an article is determined to be seriously flawed or unethical and should no longer be regarded as part of the scholarly record. |
Investigation Procedure
- Receive reports of suspected errors or publication misconduct.
- Conduct a confidential preliminary assessment by the Editorial Board.
- Request clarification and supporting evidence from the authors.
- Consult reviewers, institutions, or independent experts when necessary.
- Make editorial decisions based on evidence and COPE recommendations.
- Publish corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern in a transparent manner.
Transparency and Integrity
Correction and retraction notices will remain permanently linked to the original article to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record. Retracted articles will remain accessible for academic transparency but will be clearly identified as "Retracted" on every page of the publication.
