Plagiarism Policy
PLAGIARISM POLICY
MALEO Law Journal (MLJ) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. Every manuscript submitted to the journal is screened for plagiarism before entering the peer-review process. The journal has a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, and other forms of academic misconduct.
All submitted manuscripts are examined using reliable plagiarism detection software to ensure the originality of scholarly work. The Editorial Board evaluates the similarity report together with the context of the matched text to distinguish legitimate citations from inappropriate text overlap.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are entirely original and that all ideas, data, quotations, figures, and other intellectual contributions from previous works are properly cited and acknowledged in accordance with internationally accepted academic standards.
Similarity Assessment

| Low Similarity | The manuscript proceeds to editorial screening and peer review if no ethical concerns are identified. |
| Moderate Similarity | Authors may be requested to revise the manuscript by improving citations, quotations, or paraphrasing before further evaluation. |
| Excessive Similarity or Plagiarism | The manuscript will be rejected immediately and may be subject to further ethical investigation in accordance with COPE guidelines. |
Unacceptable Practices
- Direct plagiarism or copying another author's work without proper citation.
- Self-plagiarism or redundant publication without appropriate disclosure.
- Duplicate submission of the same manuscript to multiple journals.
- Data fabrication, data falsification, or manipulation of research findings.
- Improper paraphrasing that closely reproduces the original source.
- Unauthorized use of figures, tables, images, or copyrighted materials.
- Citation manipulation intended to artificially increase citation counts.
Editorial Actions
When plagiarism or other forms of publication misconduct are identified, the Editorial Board will take appropriate action depending on the severity of the violation. These actions may include requesting revisions, rejecting the manuscript, publishing corrections, retracting published articles, informing the authors' institutions, or implementing additional sanctions where necessary.

MALEO Law Journal adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices and is committed to promoting originality, transparency, honesty, and ethical research. Authors are expected to submit only original manuscripts and to respect intellectual property rights throughout the publication process.
