Correction Retraction Policy

Correction Policy - Journal of Public Health and Pharmacy

Purpose:

The Journal of Public Health and Pharmacy (JPHP) aims to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the scientific record. Corrections are issued when minor errors are identified in published articles that do not compromise the research's validity, findings, or conclusions.

Types of Corrections:

  1. Erratum: Issued when an error is made by the journal during the publication process (e.g., typographical errors, formatting issues).
  2. Corrigendum: Issued when an error is made by the author(s) but does not affect the integrity of the research (e.g., data mislabeling, acknowledgment omission).

Process:

  1. Errors can be reported by the author(s), editor(s), or readers of the journal.
  2. The Editorial Board reviews the error and its impact on the article.
  3. If necessary, a correction note will be published, linked to the original article, and the online version of the article will be updated.

Principles:

  • Transparency: All corrections will clearly state the nature of the error and the necessary amendments.
  • Accessibility: Corrected articles will remain freely accessible to maintain the scientific record's integrity.

Grounds for Retraction:

  1. Evidence of data fabrication or falsification.
  2. Plagiarism or redundant publication.
  3. Severe methodological errors rendering the results invalid.
  4. Ethical violations, such as unauthorized use of subjects or lack of informed consent.

Retraction Process:

  1. Investigation:
    • The Editorial Board investigates allegations in consultation with the authors and, if necessary, independent reviewers or ethical committees.
  2. Decision:
    • If the allegations are confirmed, the Editorial Board will decide to retract the article.
  3. Notification:
    • Authors will be notified of the decision, and a retraction statement will be published, detailing the reasons for retraction.
  4. Article Status:
    • The original article will remain available online with a watermark stating "RETRACTED" for transparency.

Principles:

  • Integrity: Retractions are issued to correct the literature and protect readers from flawed research.
  • Fairness: Investigations are conducted impartially, giving authors the opportunity to respond to allegations.
  • Clarity: Retraction statements will explicitly state the reason for the action to inform the public.
