Publication Ethics

Jurnal Forbis Sains (ISSN 2828-349X), published by the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Muhammadiyah Palu, is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity in all stages of the publication process. The journal follows internationally recognized ethical publishing principles and expects all parties involved in the publication process — including authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers — to adhere to ethical standards and responsible research practices.

The publication of articles in Jurnal Forbis Sains reflects the quality of scholarly work and contributes to the advancement of scientific knowledge in agriculture, environmental sciences, food systems, and sustainable development. Ethical behavior is therefore essential to ensure the credibility, integrity, and professionalism of academic publishing.


Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to Jurnal Forbis Sains must ensure that:

1. Originality and Plagiarism

Submitted manuscripts are original works that have not been published previously and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors must properly cite and acknowledge all sources used in the research and writing process. Any form of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, is strictly prohibited.

2. Data Integrity and Research Accuracy

Authors are responsible for presenting accurate data and objective analysis. Fabrication, falsification, manipulation of data, or misleading statements are considered unethical and unacceptable.

3. Multiple or Concurrent Submission

Authors must not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal. Duplicate publication or redundant publication is prohibited.

4. Authorship and Contribution

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant intellectual contributions to the research, manuscript preparation, and approval of the final version. All co-authors must agree to the submission and publication of the manuscript.

5. Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest that may influence the interpretation or presentation of the research results.

6. Ethical Research Practices

Research involving humans, animals, communities, or sensitive data must comply with applicable ethical standards and institutional regulations. Authors must provide ethical approval information where necessary.

7. Corrections and Retractions

Authors are obligated to promptly notify the editor if significant errors or inaccuracies are discovered in their published work and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article when necessary.


Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers play an essential role in maintaining the quality of publications in Jurnal Forbis Sains. Reviewers are expected to:

1. Confidentiality

All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared or discussed with unauthorized parties.

2. Objectivity and Fairness

Reviews should be conducted objectively, professionally, and constructively without personal criticism toward the authors.

3. Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Reviewers should provide clear recommendations and constructive feedback that assist editors in making publication decisions and help authors improve their manuscripts.

4. Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published works not cited by the authors and notify editors of any substantial similarities or overlaps with other publications.

5. Conflict of Interest

Reviewers must decline the review process if they have conflicts of interest related to the manuscript, authors, institutions, or research funding.


Ethical Responsibilities of Editors

Editors of Jurnal Forbis Sains are responsible for ensuring a fair, transparent, and ethical publication process.

1. Publication Decisions

Editors are responsible for deciding which manuscripts should be published based on academic merit, originality, relevance, reviewers’ evaluations, and legal considerations.

2. Fair Evaluation

Editors evaluate manuscripts without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, institutional affiliation, or political beliefs.

3. Confidentiality

Editors must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and related communications throughout the review and publication process.

4. Conflict of Interest

Editors must avoid handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest and ensure impartial editorial decisions.

5. Handling Ethical Issues

Editors are responsible for addressing ethical complaints, allegations of misconduct, plagiarism, duplicate publication, or unethical research practices in accordance with established ethical guidelines.


Publisher Responsibilities

The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Muhammadiyah Palu, as the publisher of Jurnal Forbis Sains, is committed to supporting ethical publishing practices, editorial independence, and academic integrity. The publisher ensures that commercial or institutional interests do not influence editorial decisions and supports the publication of high-quality scholarly works.


Plagiarism Screening

All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Forbis Sains undergo plagiarism screening using appropriate similarity detection software. Manuscripts with significant levels of plagiarism or unethical citation practices will be rejected immediately.


Ethical Misconduct and Retraction Policy

Cases of ethical misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, duplicate publication, and unethical research practices, will be investigated seriously. Depending on the severity of the violation, the journal may:

  • Reject the manuscript
  • Request corrections
  • Retract published articles
  • Notify the authors’ institutions or relevant authorities
