Plagiarism Policy

Jurnal Forbis Sains (ISSN 2828-349X) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, ethical publishing, and originality in scholarly communication. The journal strictly prohibits all forms of plagiarism and unethical publication practices in submitted and published manuscripts.

All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Forbis Sains must be original works authored by the submitting authors and must not contain plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, or unauthorized use of intellectual property. Authors are fully responsible for ensuring the authenticity and originality of their work.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism refers to the use of another person’s ideas, words, data, figures, tables, or research findings without proper acknowledgment or citation. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Direct copying of text without citation
  • Paraphrasing without appropriate acknowledgment
  • Using ideas, methods, or data without permission or reference
  • Self-plagiarism or duplicate publication
  • Submitting substantially similar manuscripts to multiple journals
  • Improper citation practices or citation manipulation

Any form of plagiarism is considered unethical and unacceptable.

Similarity Screening

All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Forbis Sains undergo plagiarism detection screening using similarity-checking software before entering the peer-review process. The editorial board evaluates similarity reports carefully to distinguish between acceptable similarity and potential plagiarism.

Manuscripts with excessive similarity, unattributed content, or evidence of plagiarism may be:

  • Rejected immediately
  • Returned to authors for correction and clarification
  • Investigated further by the editorial team

The journal reserves the right to reject manuscripts that violate ethical publishing standards.

Acceptable Similarity Level

The journal expects submitted manuscripts to maintain a low level of similarity with previously published works. Similarity percentages alone do not determine plagiarism; the editorial board evaluates the context, source, and nature of overlapping text.

Authors are encouraged to:

  • Properly cite all referenced materials
  • Use quotation marks for directly quoted text
  • Write original interpretations and discussions
  • Avoid excessive copying, even with citation

Self-Plagiarism and Redundant Publication

Authors must not reuse substantial portions of their previously published work without proper citation and editorial disclosure. Duplicate submission and redundant publication are strictly prohibited.

If the manuscript is derived from conference papers, theses, dissertations, or research reports, authors must clearly disclose this information during submission.

Editorial Actions in Cases of Plagiarism

If plagiarism or unethical publication practices are identified before publication, the manuscript will be rejected. If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the journal may take appropriate actions, including:

  • Publishing corrections or clarifications
  • Retracting the article
  • Informing authors’ institutions or affiliated organizations
  • Restricting future submissions from the responsible authors

The severity of editorial action depends on the extent and nature of the ethical violation.

Authors’ Responsibilities

Authors submitting manuscripts to Jurnal Forbis Sains are responsible for:

  • Ensuring the originality of their work
  • Properly acknowledging all sources and references
  • Obtaining permission for copyrighted materials when necessary
  • Avoiding unethical citation practices
  • Cooperating with editorial investigations if ethical concerns arise

All authors are expected to uphold honesty, transparency, and ethical research conduct throughout the publication process.
