AI Policy

Jurnal Forbis Sains (ISSN 2828-349X) recognizes the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies and AI-assisted tools in academic research, scholarly writing, data analysis, language editing, and publication processes. The journal supports the responsible, transparent, and ethical use of AI technologies while maintaining the principles of academic integrity, originality, accountability, and human authorship in scientific publishing.

This policy outlines the ethical standards and responsibilities related to the use of AI tools in manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Forbis Sains.

Use of AI Tools by Authors

Authors may use AI-assisted technologies to support:

  • Language editing and grammar improvement
  • Reference organization
  • Data visualization and coding assistance
  • Research support and technical analysis
  • Limited content generation under proper supervision

However, authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and scientific validity of all submitted content.

AI tools must not replace critical human judgment, scientific interpretation, ethical responsibility, or intellectual contribution in the research and writing process.

Disclosure Requirement

Authors are required to disclose the use of AI-assisted tools in the preparation of manuscripts if such tools have significantly contributed to:

  • Text generation
  • Data analysis
  • Image creation or manipulation
  • Translation or substantial language editing
  • Coding or computational processes

Disclosure should be clearly stated in the manuscript, preferably in the acknowledgment section or a dedicated statement.

Example disclosure:

“The authors used AI-assisted tools for language editing and manuscript preparation. All content was reviewed and approved by the authors, who take full responsibility for the final manuscript.”

AI and Authorship

Artificial Intelligence tools, including generative AI systems, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of manuscripts because AI systems:

  • Cannot take responsibility for the content
  • Cannot approve the final manuscript
  • Cannot fulfill authorship criteria
  • Cannot assume accountability for ethical and scientific integrity

Authorship is limited to human contributors who meet recognized academic authorship standards.

Prohibited Uses of AI

The following uses of AI are considered unethical and are strictly prohibited:

  • Fabrication or falsification of data, results, citations, or references
  • Generation of misleading or fraudulent scientific content
  • Manipulation of images, figures, or experimental outcomes without disclosure
  • Plagiarism or unattributed AI-generated content
  • Use of AI to bypass peer-review integrity or editorial policies
  • Automated generation of fake reviewer identities or reviews

Any misuse of AI technologies may result in manuscript rejection, retraction, or other editorial actions.

Responsibility and Accountability

Authors are fully accountable for all content submitted to Jurnal Forbis Sains, including material produced or assisted by AI tools. Authors must ensure that:

  • Information generated using AI is accurate and verifiable
  • References and citations are authentic and properly checked
  • AI-generated content does not infringe copyright or ethical standards
  • The manuscript complies with scientific and academic integrity principles

The journal reserves the right to request clarification regarding AI use during the review or publication process.

AI Use by Editors and Reviewers

Editors and reviewers may use AI-assisted tools only in ways that preserve confidentiality, integrity, and ethical review standards. Manuscripts under review must not be uploaded to unauthorized AI platforms or systems that may compromise confidentiality or intellectual property rights.

Editors and reviewers remain responsible for all editorial judgments and decisions.

Ethical Compliance

Jurnal Forbis Sains encourages the responsible and transparent use of AI technologies while emphasizing that scientific research and scholarly communication must remain grounded in honesty, accountability, human oversight, and ethical conduct.

The journal continuously monitors developments related to AI in scholarly publishing and may update this policy in accordance with evolving international publishing standards and best practices.
