Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh illness cognition terhadap tingkat stres pada mahasiswa rantau yang menderita penyakit maag di Kota Padang. Hipotesis dalam penelitian ini berkaitan dengan bagaimana illness cognition berpengaruh terhadap tingkat stres yang dirasakan oleh mahasiswa. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa rantau dari berbagai perguruan tinggi di Kota Padang yang memiliki riwayat penyakit maag, dengan jumlah partisipan sebanyak 211 orang. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh melalui penyebaran kuesioner daring yang menggunakan alat ukur Illness Cognition Questionnaire (ICQ) dan Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10). Metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah regresi linier sederhana dengan bantuan aplikasi SPSS versi 27. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa illness cognition berpengaruh negatif dan signifikan terhadap tingkat stres (p < 0,001; ? = -0,479). Semakin tinggi illness cognition, maka semakin rendah tingkat stres yang dialami. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pemaknaan positif terhadap penyakit dapat menjadi faktor pelindung terhadap stres.
