Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

Journal of Educational Management and Islamic Leadership (JEMIL)

The Journal of Educational Management and Islamic Leadership (JEMIL) implements a rigorous and transparent peer review process to maintain the quality and integrity of published research. The peer review process follows these steps:

1. Submission

Authors submit manuscripts through the journal's online submission system. Each submission must comply with the journal’s author guidelines, including formatting and ethical considerations.

2. Initial Screening (Desk Review)

The editorial team conducts an initial screening to assess:

  • Relevance to the scope of the journal

  • Originality and contribution to the field

  • Adherence to submission guidelines

  • Plagiarism check using reliable software (e.g., Turnitin or iThenticate)

Manuscripts that do not meet the criteria may be rejected at this stage.

3. Double-Blind Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the desk review are forwarded to at least two independent reviewers under a double-blind review system, where both reviewers and authors remain anonymous. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise in educational management, Islamic education, and leadership.

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on:

  • Academic rigor and clarity

  • Research methodology

  • Theoretical framework and literature review

  • Relevance and originality

  • Quality of analysis and discussion

  • Contribution to the field of educational management and Islamic leadership

4. Review Outcomes

Based on reviewers’ feedback, the editorial decision will fall into one of the following categories:

  • Accept without revision

  • Accept with minor revision

  • Revise and resubmit (major revision)

  • Reject

Authors are given a specific time frame to revise and resubmit their manuscripts if revisions are requested.

5. Final Decision

The revised manuscript may be sent back to the original reviewers for re-evaluation or directly assessed by the editorial board. The final decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief based on reviewers’ recommendations and the quality of revisions.

6. Copyediting and Proofreading

Accepted manuscripts undergo professional copyediting to ensure clarity, formatting consistency, and language accuracy. Authors are given a chance to review proofs before final publication.

7. Publication

Once finalized, the manuscript is published in the journal’s upcoming issue and made available online through open access.
