Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to Iqra: Jurnal Ilmu Kependidikan dan Keislaman undergo a rigorous peer review process to ensure academic quality, originality, and scientific contribution in the fields of education and Islamic studies.

Initial Editorial Screening (Desk Review)

Upon submission, each manuscript is first evaluated by the editorial team. This stage includes assessment of:

  • Relevance to the journal’s scope and focus
  • Compliance with author guidelines and manuscript format
  • Plagiarism screening using similarity detection software
  • Basic academic quality and novelty

Manuscripts that do not meet the minimum requirements may be rejected without external review (desk rejection).

Double-Blind Peer Review Process

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent expert reviewers under a double-blind review system, where:

  • The identity of the authors is not known to the reviewers
  • The identity of the reviewers is not disclosed to the authors

Reviewers are selected based on their expertise and research experience relevant to the manuscript topic.

Review Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on:

  • Scientific originality and contribution
  • Methodological rigor and validity
  • Clarity of writing and structure
  • Relevance to Islamic education and/or educational studies
  • Quality and relevance of references

Editorial Decision

Based on reviewer recommendations, the editorial board makes one of the following decisions:

  • Accept
  • Minor revision
  • Major revision
  • Reject

The final decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief, taking into account reviewer reports and editorial considerations.

Revision Process

Authors are required to revise their manuscripts according to reviewer comments within a specified timeframe. Revised manuscripts may be re-evaluated by reviewers if necessary.

Publication Ethics

The journal adheres to COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines to ensure integrity, transparency, and ethical publishing standards consistent with international Scopus-indexed journals.
