Abstract

Family conflict constitutes an inherent dynamic of domestic life, demanding resolution mechanisms that prioritize relational restoration and sustainable peace over mere conflict cessation. In North Lombok Regency, the Majelis Krama Desa (MKD) serves as a traditional local institution authorized to resolve various disputes, including domestic ones. Nevertheless, its implementation remains constrained by several challenges, such as suboptimal multi-stakeholder collaboration, underutilized local wisdom, inadequate documentation of agreements, and a lack of post-settlement monitoring. This study aims to analyze the existence of local wisdom within family conflict resolution through the MKD and to reconstruct a more integrative dispute resolution model. Employing empirical legal research with a sociology of law approach, this study gathered field data that was subsequently analyzed qualitatively. The findings reveal that the community of North Lombok Regency consistently preserves local wisdom, as manifested in weweran, sasimbingan, the philosophy of mempolong merenten, and moral values embedded in traditional manuscripts like the Piagam Baru Satan and Takepan Lontar Rengganis. These values serve as moral guidelines in fostering social relations and have been partially integrated into MKD practices. Furthermore, this study proposes a reconstructed model for domestic conflict resolution comprising five integrated components: initial assessment, multi-stakeholder collaboration, restorative deliberation, documentation of agreements, and post-peace monitoring and evaluation. While maintaining traditional deliberation as its core foundation, this model strengthens the protection of vulnerable parties, relational recovery, legal certainty of agreements, and long-term peace sustainability.
