PENERAPAN TEORI KOMPLEMENTER ALLIUM SATIVUM UNTUK MENGURANGI NYERI AKUT PADA KELUARGA NY.S PENDERITA HIPERTENSI DI PUSKESMAS TALISE KOTA PALU
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Background : Hypertension is a condition where blood pressure exceeds the normal limit, with systolic pressure reaching 140 mmHg or more and diastolic pressure reaching 90 mmHg or more. This disease is often called the silent killer because many people do not realize they have hypertension until their blood pressure is checked at a health facility.
Purpose : This study aims to describe how Allium sativum (garlic) therapy was applied to the family of Mrs. S who suffers from hypertension with a diagnosis of acute pain in the working area of Talise Public Health Center, Palu City.
Method : This research used a descriptive case study approach. It focused on applying Allium sativum therapy to help manage hypertension and acute pain in Mrs. S. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the results of using this therapy in reducing the patient’s pain level.
Results and Discussion : This study evaluated the effect of Allium sativum (garlic) in reducing acute pain in a hypertensive patient at Talise Public Health Center, Palu City. On the first day, Mrs. S reported a high pain level of 8 on the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). After three days of using garlic decoction as a natural therapy, her pain level decreased significantly to 3. This finding shows that Allium sativum can be an effective non-drug therapy for reducing acute pain in hypertensive patients.
Conclusion : The use of Allium sativum therapy proved effective in reducing acute pain in Mrs. S, a hypertensive patient at Talise Public Health Center. The patient’s pain level decreased from 8 to 3 on the VAS scale after three days of therapy. This indicates that Allium sativum plays a positive role in relieving acute pain caused by hypertension.
Suggestion : To improve the effectiveness of care, health workers are encouraged to use complementary therapies such as Allium sativum in the treatment of hypertensive patients, especially those who experience acute pain.
