APPLYING WORDWALL WEB-BASED APPLICATION IN IMPROVING ENGLISH VOCABULARY OF THE XI GRADE STUDENTS AT SMK MUHAMMADIYAH 1 PALU
Abstract
The objective of this research was to find out the use of WordWall Web-Based Application can improve students' vocabulary especially noun and adjective. This research was a pre-experimental research design consisting of one group pre- test and post-test. There were two variables of this research. The independent variable was WordWall Web-Based Application and the dependent variable was vocabulary of the XI grade students at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Palu. The population of this research was XI grade students at SMK Muhamadiyah 1 Palu 2024/2025 academic year. The sample of this research was selected by using total sampling technique and the selected class was grade XI consisting of 30 students. In collecting the data, the researcher conducted pre-test and post-test in order to measure the students' vocabulary (noun and adjective) before and after applying WordWall. The result of the test shows that the students' mean score in the post-test (87) was higher than pre-test (28). To find out the significant difference between the pre-test and the post-test, the researcher compared the value of t-counted and t-table by applying 0.05 level of significance for one-tailed test with 29 students (30-1=29), the researcher found that the t-table is 1,699. It means that the t-counted (29,077) is higher than the t-table (1,699) and the hypothesis is accepted. The researcher concludes that applying WordWall can improve English vocabulary of the XI grade students of SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Palu especially noun and adjective.
