AI Policy

Jurnal Kolaboratif Sains recognizes the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in academic research and scholarly publishing. The journal supports the ethical, transparent, and responsible use of AI tools while maintaining the integrity, originality, and accountability of scientific work.

This policy establishes guidelines regarding the acceptable use of AI-assisted technologies in manuscript preparation, peer review, editorial processes, and publication activities.

Principles of Responsible AI Use

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools must adhere to the following principles:

  • Transparency

  • Accountability

  • Academic integrity

  • Ethical research conduct

  • Human oversight

  • Data privacy and confidentiality

AI technologies may assist authors and reviewers in improving efficiency and language quality, but they must not replace human intellectual contributions, critical analysis, scientific judgment, or ethical responsibility.

AI Use by Authors

Authors may use AI-assisted tools for limited purposes such as:

  • Language editing and grammar improvement

  • Translation assistance

  • Reference organization

  • Formatting support

  • Coding assistance

  • Data visualization support

However, authors remain fully responsible for the entire content of the manuscript, including:

  • Accuracy of information

  • Interpretation of findings

  • Validity of data

  • Originality of work

  • Proper citation practices

  • Ethical compliance

Authors must not use AI tools to:

  • Generate fabricated data or false results

  • Produce misleading scientific claims

  • Create fake citations or references

  • Manipulate images or research evidence dishonestly

  • Replace substantial intellectual contributions

  • Conduct unethical automated writing without human verification

Disclosure Requirement

Authors are required to disclose the use of AI tools when such tools have significantly contributed to manuscript preparation.

The disclosure should include:

  • Name of the AI tool or software used

  • Purpose of use

  • Extent of AI assistance

Example disclosure statement:

“The authors used AI-assisted software for language editing and grammar improvement during manuscript preparation. All scientific interpretations, analyses, and conclusions remain the responsibility of the authors.”

Disclosure information may be included in the acknowledgment section or a separate statement within the manuscript.

Authorship and Accountability

Artificial Intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because AI systems:

  • Cannot take legal responsibility

  • Cannot approve manuscript submissions

  • Cannot respond to ethical concerns

  • Cannot hold copyright

  • Cannot contribute intellectual accountability

Only humans who meet authorship criteria may be recognized as authors.

AI-Generated Content

Authors must carefully review and verify all AI-assisted content before submission. AI-generated text, images, code, tables, references, or analyses may contain:

  • Inaccuracies

  • Biases

  • Fabricated information

  • Non-existent citations

  • Misinterpretations

The journal reserves the right to reject manuscripts containing unreliable or improperly verified AI-generated content.

AI Use in Peer Review

Reviewers must maintain strict confidentiality regarding manuscripts under review.

Reviewers are prohibited from uploading submitted manuscripts, data, figures, or confidential materials into public AI systems or generative AI platforms that may store, reuse, or distribute confidential content.

AI tools may only be used for limited editorial assistance that does not compromise manuscript confidentiality or intellectual property rights.

AI Use by Editors

Editors may use AI-assisted technologies for administrative and technical support, including:

  • Plagiarism detection

  • Language assessment

  • Reference checking

  • Workflow management

However, all editorial decisions—including acceptance, rejection, ethical evaluation, and peer review assessment—must remain under direct human supervision and responsibility.

Research Integrity and Ethical Violations

The following practices are considered unethical and may result in manuscript rejection, retraction, or other editorial actions:

  • Undisclosed substantial AI-generated writing

  • Fabrication of research data using AI

  • Creation of fake peer reviews

  • Generation of false citations or references

  • Manipulation of scientific evidence

  • Use of AI to commit academic fraud

The journal reserves the right to investigate suspected misuse of AI technologies in submitted or published works.

Copyright and Intellectual Property

Authors are responsible for ensuring that AI-assisted content does not violate:

  • Copyright laws

  • Intellectual property rights

  • Data privacy regulations

  • Ethical research standards

Authors must ensure that all generated materials comply with applicable legal and academic requirements.

Policy Updates

Because AI technologies continue to evolve rapidly, Jurnal Kolaboratif Sains may periodically revise this policy to align with international publishing standards, ethical guidelines, and emerging best practices in scholarly communication.

Authors, reviewers, and editors are encouraged to stay informed about responsible AI use in academic publishing.
