Focus and Scope

IRJILS (Indonesian Research Journal in Legal Studies) accepts unpublished, high-quality, and original research manuscripts in English (preferable) or Indonesian, resulting primarily from quantitative, qualitative, or mixed research methodology related to or associated with practices, policies, and research in Legal studies. It covers civil law, criminal law and constitutional law. IRJILS also accepts manuscripts resulting from book reviews, program evaluations, and informative articles related to the focus and scope of this journal.

Peer Review Process

Research articles or Manuscripts submitted to IRJILS are initially reviewed by the editors for general fit with the IRJILS focus and scope and the writing quality. Only those research articles meeting the IRJILS focus and scope will be sent to reviewers for a double-blind review. Review time is typically 1- 3 months. Two reviewers will be assigned to evaluate the research articles or manuscripts based on their expertise. Reviewers are expected to return their reviews within 4 weeks. The assigned reviewers evaluate the research articles by using a standard manuscript evaluation form. They are required to treat all the information in the research articles as confidential. Views of the assigned reviewers serve as a guide to IRJILS editors to make a final decision on the research articles. The final decision always belongs to IRJILS editors. Those manuscripts that are judged by the editors and assigned editors to be inappropriate are rejected promptly without external reviews.

The editors then make a decision based on the reviewers' advice, from among several possibilities:

Accept as written without any revisions

Accept with minor revisions (the second round of review is not necessary)

Accept with major revisions (the second round of review will be necessary)

Reject (the paper is not suitable for publication)|

Publication Frequency

IRJILS publishes 2 issues per year in September and March.
